Get To Know Our Female Founder
Do you have ambitious women in your family that you look up to?
I come from a long line of strong women. My mom was a mathematics major in college and went on to lead an IT team in the corporate world. Years later she knew all the answers to my college physics and calculus homework as if it were easy. Both my maternal and paternal grandmothers were hardworking resilient women who lived well into their 90s, one being a doctor and the other a farmer. One still lives on our 200-year-old family farm and looks forward to driving herself to church and mowing her lawn every week at 96 years old. I was raised with the understanding that women are fully capable of whatever they set out to achieve.
Are there any women entrepreneurs that you’re inspired by?
Absolutely, it’s refreshing to see so many large scale consumer brands founded and/or run by women such as Sara Blakely, Gwyneth Paltrow and Ariel Kaye of Parachute Home. I'm also excited by the growing number of female executives in the corporate world such as Andi Owen from Herman Miller.
How do you manage it all in your day-to-day life?
As a female founder, managing my day-to-day schedule is both a challenge and a source of fulfillment. Each morning begins with a review of my top priorities and a cup of tea, setting the tone for the day ahead. Balancing meetings, strategy sessions, and operational tasks requires a delicate dance of time management and organization.
I've learned to delegate effectively, trusting my team to handle tasks within their expertise while I focus on high-level decision-making with my partner. Amidst the chaos, I carve out moments to clear my mind and focus on what inspires me. Flexibility is key, as unexpected challenges arise, I have to be adaptable and get creative with problem-solving. Yet, amongst the whirlwind, I find purpose in driving my vision forward, fueled by passion and determination to see Artifox thrive.
How do you set up your home for success?
There are so many things that can go into setting up a room for success. I would say my top two priority rooms would be my kitchen and office. These are the two places I spend most of my time during the days and the two places that fuel my passions.
Let’s start with the kitchen. To me, the Table is the most important part of the room as it is always welcoming and is also where all the deep conversation takes place. Having a clear space to cook and bring people together in my home is one of my favorite things and with Table, I can do just that. It makes for the perfect place to gather and is great for the transition of day to night. During the day, it serves as a hub of activity, constructing an ideal workspace for my colleagues and I to create and strategize. At night, it transforms and becomes a focal point for shared meals and intimate gatherings to socialize and chat with one another. Some of my most special memories have occurred right at my kitchen Table.
Next is my office space which is mainly centered around Desk. Within its confines, tasks are tackled, ideas are born, and goals are realized. I love to set up this space to where I have all the products I need right at my fingertips, setting me up for success one piece at a time. It’s not just about arranging stationery and devices, it's about curating an environment that fosters productivity and creativity. This is achieved with items such as Magazine holder, Monument, Tray, and more. It’s so important to me to create a space that allows me to feel inspired and recharged throughout the day. And with a few simple items, I can do just that.
